Texas Ramp Project

Texas Ramp Project

Focus of Nonprofit: Have you ever changed a person’s life in a single day? The Texas Ramp Project does it hundreds of times a year! We build wheelchair ramps for disabled or elderly people who can’t afford to buy one. In a few hours on a Saturday morning, we give these folks the freedom to leave their home again—the home where they want to remain but whose steps have imprisoned them.

Project Request:

Seeking a statewide, integrated system that can track all the steps of the process concerning referrals for wheelchair ramps that come to their website by social or case workers.

The ramp application is written in Filemaker and is hosted on an Amazon Web Server.  Those will be key skills needed for the project (either know them or be able to get up to speed quickly).  The application receives emails from SalesForce and interacts with Visio, which are both secondary skills.  The goal of this project, is to roll out the application to other chapters either using these existing applications/tools or something else if the To Be Named resource deems there are better/easier applications and tools to recreate the functionality of the of the ramp application.  In addition to to these technical skills, the To Be Named resource should be skilled in scoping/sizing the work effort it will take to 1) scale the existing application and 2) rewrite in different a technology(ies).  Bottom line, they will need to be willing to do the leg work. The database would need to be scalable, encrypted and secure.

Would need to cover 180 counties with about 100 current users of their SharePoint database.

The San Antonio – Bexar County office uses Filemaker and all offices use Vizio for architectural rendering.

Skills Needed: Software Developer; Systems Architect; Database Engineer

Everything was a huge hit! Everyone loved the new logo and all of the collateral materials. The Clinics were thrilled that we had used their pictures. I hope I get the opportunity to work with this great organization again in the future - it was such a pleasure!
